After installing Microsoft Office Microsoft SharePoint Server Server (MOSS) 2007, I periodically encountered a problem that, while benign, caused some confusion and frustration. What appeared to be randomly, I would go to manage IIS via MMC. IIS would appear in the list, but none of the website details would display. The entire tree would be empty. No Application Pools, no websites, no SMTP information. Nothing.
We found various solutions that included everything from IIS resets to reboots would almost always resolve the problem, but, sure enough, it would happen again. Well, it appears we weren’t the only ones experiencing the problem!
Microsoft just released a hotfix that will resolve the issue:
